Dr.-Ing. Luis Cifuentes is a Senior Researcher at Forschungszentrum Jülich – Institute for Advanced Simulation – Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC). He has completed his Ph.D. studies in fluid mechanics focused on turbulent combustion at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). His research work also includes:
• Postdoctoral stays at the Royal Institute of Technology KTH (Sweden) and the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany)
• Principal investigator of a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Commission
• Visits to CIEMAT – Department of Energy (Spain), Normandy University – Complexe de Recherche Interprofessionnel en Aérothermochimie CORIA (France), and Newcastle University (United Kingdom).
Dr. Cifuentes has contributed to over 60 conferences, one book chapter in Advanced Turbulent Combustion Physics and Applications, and 14 journal publications. Nowadays, he is working at JSC, supporting users of the engineering sciences who have already developed parallel codes but need support for the use of AI/ML/DL, massively parallel systems regarding high scalability, memory optimization, programming of hierarchic computer architectures, and performance optimization on computer nodes.
